Junction 17 – supporting our local swimming team

Here at Junction 17 Cars, we are always looking to support charities close to our heart. Most recently, we have recently pledged our support to the City of Peterborough Swimming Club (COPS). Our local swimming club needs to raise just under £50,000 to replace the 20-year-old timing system used to record races. This timing equipment needs to be of a certain quality and specification to allow the club to host swimming galas. The new AOE will record times to count towards qualifying for county/regional and national competitions. Any money raised will enable the club to continue to develop swimmers for years to come. This will help to give them key life skills in determination and resilience that will produce not only top-class competing swimmers but well-rounded adults.

The COYS had planned to raise funding through various local galas and fundraising activities, but this was stalled due to Covid. Now, they are looking to gain as much support as possible, and of course, we jumped at the chance to help! However, we wanted to do more than just sign a cheque, we wanted to raise money and increase awareness for the COPS. This is why we are donating £25 per car we sell to the COPS JustGiving campaign! So far for July and August, we have totalled a huge £5,000! And we anticipate the number to keep increasing with the help of our wonderful customers!

The COPS compete at the highest levels in the sport and have international swimmers and National medallists. They also compete at County and Regional levels and travel widely to attend various open meets throughout the year. They are currently ranked in the top 10 clubs in England.
